Welsh author David Owain Hughes is a man who’s work generally wallows in the depravity of extreme horror and sordid perversion. That said, in 2018 Hughes released the first in his highly revered crime noir ‘South By Southwest Wales’ series, which showcased further the undisputable versatility of writer.
Hughes is however probably best known for his ‘Wind-Up Toy’ series which is firmly within the author’s core subgenre – hardcore extreme horror mixed with filth and perversion.
Readers of Hughes’ stories will often find recurring characters and other such links to his other works across the different pieces. This creates a sort of David Owain Hughes universe, with the links like Easter Eggs for readers to spot.
Over the years Hughes has also contributed to a plethora of anthologies, many of these contributions being republished within his various short story collections.
